Class Rankings

at 1:44 p.m 2/3/16

Rank by Offers: 41 (as of 1/17-will update 2/07)
Scout 61
247sports.com 70
Rivals 75

ESPN is hard to tell because I think they only list top 40 classes-at least for non-subscribers- but it appears SMU had more 3+ stars with 18 than any other program in the AAC while conceding that UH and USF had some 4+ stars that might put them ahead in their rankings

ESPNU, at least earlier in the day, was ranking us third in the American.

as Rank by Offers shows we wanted a Head Coach and staff that could go head-to-head with quality programs and we got it. Already got 2 three stars in the Bank for 2017. Wait until Morris has a team he can work with and some Ws on his resume. Well done

(oh and by the way, screw Rivals)

That is mostly because we signed 26 players (not counting a blueshirt we are suppose to be getting). I don't know if signing so many is good or bad at this point. Next year I doubt SMU even signs 20 because SMU signed so many this year.

Scout has some nice profiles and write ups on each player that signed. (free)

we will have attrition for the next several years - and I guarantee we sign full classes for at least the next two years.

Need to figure out how to get a 4 star or two. I think winning might have something to do with that - but just a guess.

Such a breath of fresh air on signing day especially.

Scott Frost did an amazing job with his very first class, with little time.

2 - 4 stars, and 9 - 3 stars (on the tougher Rivals scale  )

As others have mentioned, the level of coaching and recruiting in the AAC has been raised. Yes it was nice to compare this class to post-DP, and June classes, but it's time to start comparing future classes to Houston, USF & UCF. They are the real competition going forward.

We've won three games in the past two years and signed more recruits with P5 offers than anyone in our conference except Houston.

What more do you want?

here's a little secret, Rivals now has about 50-60 more 3+ stars in Florida than in Texas. Last time I looked

Exact Numbers:
Florida 201
Texas 155

I'll leave that open for debate as to whether that is fair or justified-but I'm personally doubtful that it is and USF and UCF may be benefitting from that advantage. Texas still is easily the state with the most Division 1A offers and has been since 2 platoon football

However you slice it we have a 65% percentile or better class and 1 of the top 3 in our conference. The staff did a great job pulling this group together and hanging onto it through signing day. The signing day event last night was great and I continue to be impressed by the entire staff. Can't wait for Springball and the 2016 season. Go 'Stangs!

Regardless of tis rank, there is no denying that this class makes us significantly better at many positions when you assess where the guys are rated across the recruiting services as well as their offers.
