Another pipeline of talent?

The PF.com Recruiting Roundup says that Eric Roark was the assistant coach who recruited Allen RB DeMyron Martin. In doing so, it seems he might have opened a big door for talent for the Ponies. TheInsiders.com is listing 10 players who have SMU on their early list of candidates, and five of them are from Allen HS.

QB Casey [deleted] (6-2, 200, 4.8) -- Arkansas, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M

OL Jerrod Butler (6-1, 330, 5.6) -- Baylor, LSU, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M

DE/DT Marcus Shavers (6-2.5, 240, 4.9) -- Arkansas (offer), Colorado, Georgia, Kansas State, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU (offer), Texas A&M (offer), Texas Tech

CB D.J. Terrell (5-10, 150, 4.5) -- Baylor, Kansas, SMU, TCU

CB Corey Augustine (5-11, 150, 4.6) -- Baylor, Kansas, LSU, SMU, USC

I assume with Ringo being the new HC at Plano East, we probably won't be looking at getting too many kids (like none) from there. Huh?

I bet you're probably right. I also have no idea what kind of talent PESH has for the 2004 season.

As for this list of Allen kids, those corners sound awfully skinny. If they were running 4.3s or even 4.4s, then maybe. But in the 4.5/4.6 range .... I'd like to see them add 50 pounds and become safeties.

Butler sure has the size, though, and we've all read the accolades Shavers has been collecting. Get those two, if not more.

It would be nice to see Allen and Irving develop a rivalry over which school can produce the most Mustangs every year.
