Tight end Will Locke, a 6-4, 251-pound tight end who was a redshirt sophomore last season at Louisiana Tech, announced on social media that he has committed to transfer to SMU. As a redshirt freshman in 2023, he played in all 12 of the Bulldogs' games on offense and on special teams. As a true freshman in 2022, he played in three games, mostly on special teams.

Coming out of SD O'Connor High School, he had offers from Oklahoma, Colorado State, Yale, Harvard and Dartmouth.

Pretty quick backfill for Lonnie Johnson's decision to jump into the portal

I remember this young man as a HS recruit and was surprised that he chose La. Tech over the Ivies or OU.

SMU will be the perfect fit for him. Good academics and reasonably close to home. And if OU liked him you know he's more than a camp body.

Best of luck to Will!
