Wide receiver Xavier Johnson announced on social media that he has decommitted from SMU

Not sure this is related to Russell, since Bama is not one of the reported schools of interest. Hopefully Russell's departure doesn't cause others to look elsewhere. But it is the cost of business of competing in a higher weight class.

Hopefully we can hang onto Singleton. There are 5-6 WRs who will be moving on after this year so need to bring in a couple of young guys...and there is always the transfer portal to fill gaps

Yup. That room is going to look verrrrrrryyyyyy different next year.

Grades? I find it hard to believe stepping down to Memphis was entirely his choice.

This reminds me of Shamar Johnson. When Rashee Rice was recruited out of Richland to SMU, he was another, equally talented receiver (IMO), who was supposed to go to SMU out of Richland WITH Rice. Shamar's grades didn't cut it and he flopped to JC, then played at ULM before he faded out. I watched Shamar play with Rashee at Richland and they were both studs. Sad when these guys don't get the grades, but that may have been the problem again... Ironic that it is Richland again. By the way, Richland is going to have a great team again this year.

Has to be either grades or monster FedEx NIL deal, I assume
