On3's Pete Nakos is reporting that former Mississippi State defensive lineman Eric Taylor has signed with SMU.

The Trussville, Alabama native was listed as a 6-4, 290-pound junior on Mississippi State's roster in 2024. He spent the 2020 season at LSU over a list of offers that included Mississippi State, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Nebraska, Clemson, Arkansas, Florida State, Texas A&M, Kentucky and Georgia Tech. He sat out the 2021 season and played in 2022 at Southwest Mississippi CC.

He headed to Starkville in 2023, where he played in all 12 games, picking up 15 tackles (five solo) and a tackle for loss.

Interior ... exterior ... more everywhere.

We're losing how many? By my count, we're saying goodbye to 10 defensive linemen. We need a lot more.

Roberts
Harvey
Jefferson
Booker
Roberson
Lockhart
Burris
Sandjo-Njiki
Harrison-Hunte
Abor (to transfer portal)
