What gives? Last year there was a wide receiver (Keauntea Bankhead) from Seattle who was supposed to be pretty talented (although not a complete star, I gather) who had SMU on his list until mid-January. Now there are three -- THREE! -- guys from Ballard HS in Seattle who are considering SMU, according to Insiders.

1.
Jakob Shank
Ht: 6-1.5 Wt: 212 40: 4.79
Position: LB
Projected as: LB
Seattle (Ballard), Wash.

Stats/Accolades: First-team all-KingCo 4A as a junior.
Coach's comments: "He's a stud, but because there are a lot of good inside linebackers in the area this year, he's been a tough sell to coaches."

Schools of Interest:
SMU, Washington, Washington State

2.
Nick Thornton-Jack
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 290 40: 5.1
Position: OL
Projected as: OL
Seattle (Ballard), Wash.

Stats/Honors: Honorable mention all-KingCo 4A as a junior.
Scouting Report: Nick is a heady player that has solid attributes for a center. Built low to the ground, Thornton-Jack has long arms and is quick off the whistle. Played for a very strong line as a junior and is expected to lead as a senior.

Coach's comments: "We're moving him to guard this year, but he's a natural center."

Schools of Interest:
Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, BYU, Oregon State, SMU, Washington State

3.
Jerome Williams
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 202 40: 4.55
Position: S, WR
Projected as: S
Seattle (Ballard), Wash.

Biography:
Coach's comments: "He's grown tremendously in the past year. His growth pattern is a lot like Keauntea (Bankhead). He's got a passion for winning a championship. He's become a team leader."

Schools of Interest:
Nebraska, SMU, Washington, Washington State

So .... what gives? Maybe there's a Southern Montana University or something?

Even if Biggers is friends with these guys, I find it weird that four guys (a couple of whom, at least, are supposed to be really good players) from a single high school almost 2,000 miles away would all target the same school. I mean, if SMU was Miami or USC or something .... maybe. But this is odd.
