A 5'7" 145 lb recruit? Sounds like a real physical shutdown corner type. In other recruiting news, I heard we are in the hunt for the services of Harvey "the Punisher" Thompson, a very lean 215 lb OT from Buna with a mean streak from Ford Stadium to La Madeline. Size may seam like an issue, but he gets great leverage on his 5'8" frame. Schools reportedly knocking down his door are Tarleton, McMurry, SMU (offer), and Notre Dame (childhood favorite, but HT doesn't know if an offer will ensue).

Yeah, he's small, but I assume there's a projection of SOME growth, even if it's only in his weight. And with all due respect to the great Marcus Malonson, I would bet this kid isn't being recruited as a corner. He sounds like a slot receiver/kick returner. And Blake Warren looks like he's going to be a very good player, and he's not much bigger (if at all) than this kid. If he can run and return kicks like Warren, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I'd be hard-pressed to hitch the success of a recruiting class to a guy this size, but the coaches know more than we do - they've seen him play.

Nice Marcus Malonson reference! Wonder what he's up to these days?

I wonder if this Fish kid can run like Jessie Henderson. At that size, he'd better be damn fast.

its really not unusual for the Inside Receivers on a Run & Shoot type offense to be smurfs-get used to it.

If they can play like the original Smurfs (Charlie Brown, Ricky Sanders, Alvin Garrett, Virgil Seay) of the Redskins' old Super Bowl team, I'll take it. (I can't believe I'm a Dallasite asking for Redskins clones. But if they make our offense go, I'm all for it.)

They also had Art Monk out there, too, the Hogs on the front line, and the Diesel himself, Riggo in the backfield. That line was so good that the Redskins made it to the NFC Championship game with four different QB's. Theisman, Williams, Schroeder and Rippen and went to the Super Bowl with three of them (although the year they beat Denver, Williams and Schroeder did alternate to some degree). As Bus has said and I agree, games are won and lost in the trenches. Big Uglies, Big Uglies and more Big Uglies.

A thread that touches my heart! You're exactly right, EastStang - the Skins won those games because of Riggo and the Hogs. Jay Schroeder was a thrower, not a passer, and how Rypien got them to the title remains a mystery, what with the way he fumbled every other snap - he had one sensational year and a few tremendously average seasons. What made that team go was the monsters up front and the power running game with the Great Riggo, and the possession passing game with Art Monk, Clint Didier and (to a lesser degree) Don Warren and Rick Walker. The Smurfs got a lot of attention, because they (especially Charlie Brown and Ricky Sanders) were so fast they were a threat to go all the way any time they touched the ball, but without the power running game and the intermediate passing game in place to keep the defense from dropping back in to center field in a prevent defense, it wouldn't have worked.
From what I've read here, maybe this Munlin kid can be the power back needed to force teams to play honestly at the line of scrimmage, and last year's new receivers (Cleveland and Pellerin) or the tight ends can provide the intermediate targets. If that turns out to be true, then a little guy like this Fish guy could be quite effective.
