According to assistant coach Mickey Merrill (in the Dallas Morning Snew's -Northwest section) Running back Ryan Polite (6-1), 200) is receiving attention from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, LSU, TCU, SMU, UTEP, Iowa, Kansas State, and Texas Tech. Last year he was one of the top backs in the DFW are with 2,194 yeards and scoring 36 TDs.

Also, (and BUS will like this :D ) offensive lineman Mike Lewis (6-3, 322) is receiving attention from LSU, OU, OSU, TCU, SMU, Houston, Iowa, and Nebraska.

Neither has received a scholarship offer yet.

I'm going to hold off on my excitement about Polite until learning how fast he is (although it looks like he has good size, and his production is certainly impressive .... although you have to consider his level of competition).

At the risk of sounding like a BUS desciple, I'm more intrigued by Lewis. That's the kind of size we want as guys walk on campus. For too many years, we were signing OLs who were in the 250-260 range, and told "they'll grow." When you get guys who are showing up at 290 or 300 or more, that's when Coach Faucette and his staff can mold them into some real monsters. If that assistant coach is accurate that he's receiving attention from those big schools, there might be some real talent in that big guy. Worth keeping an eye on, to be sure.

Insiders has Polite listed at 4.55. Considering the standard inflation by HS coaches, that means he's between a 4.6 and 4.8, by my guess. In which case, is he fast enough to play RB?

If he's a 4.6-4.8 guy, and if he really is 6'1" and 200, he should start bulking up to take a crack at playing fullback.

Lewis, Lewis, Lewis.

We want a HERD of this type of big men. I do think that by the time Lewis hit the field at SMU he would lose 15 to 20 lb's, but be stronger!!
