Carroll quarterback Daniel says he will go to Missouri

Southlake Carroll quarterback Chase Daniel orally committed to Missouri on Friday, and said the school's early interest in him was a big factor.

"They were the first to offer me [a scholarship] and always showed a strong interest," said Daniel, who will be entering his senior year at Carroll. "They're an up-and-coming program, and I can't wait to get up there and show them what I've got."

Oral commitments are nonbinding. The first day a football recruit can sign a letter of intent is Feb. 2.

One of the state's top prospects, Daniel (6-1, 205) said Oklahoma State and Stanford – two of more than a dozen schools that made offers to him – were also considered.

"I'm glad I finally got a decision made so that I can concentrate on Carroll football now," Daniel said. He says that he is so solid on his commitment that he will not take any official visits this fall.

Even though he didn't attend a football camp with Missouri this summer, Daniel said he was so comfortable with the coaching staff that the decision was easy.

In leading Carroll to the Class 5A state final last season, Daniel threw for 2,548 yards and 42 touchdowns and rushed for 869 yards. Those numbers came in an offense that is similar to what Missouri runs.
