Was G-Town much of a big deal before Patrick Ewing? GT is a school that SMU aspires to be academically, so it's interesting that they only have a 2K+ on campus arena. St John's is somewhat similar with its 6K seat arena and other games at MSG but at least MSG is accessible by public transportation.

I think that game was at their tiny on campus gym because they didn't want to play in front of 17,000 empty seats at Verizon.

Ted Leonsis, the owner of the Caps, Wizards, and Verizon Center is also a Georgetown alum, so I'd imagine if the demand were there for a later NIT game he could get it moved to Verizon

The announcers did say it was played there because the Circus was at Verizon. Also, WV was pissed because they were only given 150 tickets and they said they had a demand of 5,000. Supposedly, DC has the second most WV alums of any city in the country.

Ok, maybe you're right.

Probably takes a few days to setup the circus at an arena
