Smu connection: mercer coach Bob Hoffman used to coach at utpa. I sat next to him on a few flights out of mcallen. He was interested in the smu job when we hired doh-Hoffman was told we 'wanted a name.' Before that, he went to Oklahoma to take Jimmy Tubbs asst spot when Tubbs came to smu for the HC job.
