I cannot remember anything similar in the 60s, but did not see the Krebs teams in late 50s. Big time heroics in the 1966/67 defeat of Louisville in the NCAAs when they had Wes Unseld and Butch Beard.

Elsey very strangely transferred the next year - correct?

You're thinking of the wrong clutch 3. Elsey was not until 98 (or 99?) in Vegas at the WAC tourney, draining a game winning 3. He'd also hit a game winner in the regular season in the Thomas & Mack -- I know because I was living in Vegas at the time as was there for both. And yes, Elsey transferred to Baylor the next year. He was dead to me after that.

I was in school and at the game for the 93 championship too, but I honestly can't conjure up the memory of that game. Perhaps it was Chad Allen who hit that 3?

It was Chad Allen. I still have fond memories of being down in the student section that year. Probably the reason I have been a season ticket holder since graduating in 94. Hopefully the memories of this season, and the next few to come, will have a similar lasting impression on these students and keep them coming back for the next 20 years.

Gene seemed to end up in the stands a lot on his corner shots.

I've witnessed some great last second buzzer beaters (will always remember Reggie Franklin's tip in of a missed shot to beat Houston at the buzzer), but with what was at stake and considering how quickly this program has been turned around...nothing tops that shot since I've followed SMU (and that goes back to the early 60's)

Actually, the game was at Moody and Gene had a bunch of points. It was a Saturday
afternoon game. We were down 1 to Arkansas with 5 seconds left when Gene hit one
from the corner (before the 3 pt shot line) to win the game and send the Hogs home
with tears in their eyes.

Sorry Top Twenty - I did not see your earlier post when I wrote this.
