So, you think that hasnt already been done for him? More than once?

Excellent point. We (most of us anyway) have no idea what has been done up to this point.

And if it has why stop? I fed my dogs yesterday. Why wouldn't they be fed today too?

I believe it depends on the situation. If, for instance, it is a matter of not attending class, then you have to draw the line somewhere. If it is need for help and assistance then more help and assistance could be given.

If you fed your dogs daily, they ate a bit and then they just peed on the food, you would eventually stop feeding them or at least change the process.

Let's not bring the Longhorns into this discussion.

I think everyone wants at least token effort. If someone can't even manage that it is different.

note that a bunch of teachers could give a Student Athlete a break by giving him a grade of C and a few Ds instead of a F and he still might not be eligible under the Satisfactory Progress Toward Degree requirements which is probably what we are talking about. These standards are affecting kids all over the NCAA as they get 2,3 or 4 years into their degree plan. Instead of flunking a class we may be dealing with whether one class is keeping him from a required GPA

Or, an "Incomplete" instead of an F.

Hypothetically, maybe, perhaps, you could potentially see a scenario something along these lines: Just imagine, if you will, a student-athlete who needs to make a C+ in a summer school class to reach the GPA that will restore his eligibility, but that student comes up short. Perhaps even very short. After a month or 2 of pressure from above (Administration) and pleading from the AD to restore the players eligibility, the professor agrees to change the students grade from an "F" to an "Incomplete" but refuses to go any further than that for a student who really didnt do much work while he was in class. The prof might even offer to change from incomplete to a passing grade, if certain criteria are met by the student. There are limits to how hard the administration or anyone can push a professor in this case, if it becomes public, the media would make it into a major scandal, particularly if they found out this wasnt a single incident. The player is in the same spot he was before summer school, he needs to bring up his GPA to be eligible.

I'm not saying this is what happened, only that its a potentially possible scenario that maybe, possibly, potentially could happen in todays college athletics landscape to any particular unnamed student athlete. Perhaps.

Seriously? You're making an analogy that compares one of our student athletes to your dog? I am not any kind of flaming liberal, and I dont consider myself overly sensitive, but did you really think about it before you wrote that?

I apologize. I will take more time to draft more PC sounding posts. No offense intended.

However I will note that I compared a behavior that happened more than once. It's a stretch to say that post was comparing a student athlete to a dog.

That said, certainly not my best post from a content point of view nor did I make a very good "for instance"

So it's more like 9 to 11 games at a minimum.

Well this makes a lot of sense. If he really didn't put in the token effort required I'm OK with delivering a wake up call, and I'm sure even athlete friendly professors would expect similar. The minimum effort is all the difference between acknowledging the background and demands of an athlete vs fake grades. Hopefully LB is on the same page.
