Kansas assistant coach Jerrance Howard plead guilty last summer to a misdemeanor possession charge while back home in his native Peoria, Illinois, according to a report from the Peoria Journal Star.
Howard was arrested in July of 2014 and charged with possession of marijuana, getting six months of court supervision and have to pay almost $1,200 in fines and court fees, the paper said.
Kansas head coach Bill Self said that he did not find out about the arrest until Wednesday afternoon, telling the Kansas City Star that it will be handled internally.
“It will be handled like all personnel matters,†Self said.
Howard, who is 34, played for Self at Illinois. He’s in his second season with the Jayhawks, having spent a year at SMU and five on staff with Bruce Weber at Illinois.
