The problem is we have a rolling 14 credits and with only 2 teams in we won't even be close to replacing those.

So rewarding the Big East and the Big 12 with a large number of bids and or questionable bids benefits finically favored conferences while slighting other conferences ensures a slow financial demise. Seems like grounds for a lawsuit. Arboreta and capricious selection process that cost some schools and conferees a lot of money.

So a win for us doesn't equate to the money cited by the OP?
Back off Warchild seriously.

It does, but in previous years we had multiple teams (4-6) in along with Louisville or UCONN running the table.

Isn't it paid out over 5 or 6 years?

Weren't there lawsuits going the other way some years back now that led to the present situation and with the Longhorn Network being a prime example?

IIRC the University of GA was part of it in the state where I live today. A lawyer would have to trace all that but the big schools won the right to control their product and that led to the P5. And they run the NCAA. It may be that more big schools will gravitate to fewer conferences - that's been discussed. I suggested on this board there would be moves to add large state schools to the P5 setup before Houston's cause was advanced not long ago.

The NCAA is a parasite in some respects. There are people who have pretty cushy jobs and they are going to go along with what the big schools want - and what the TV networks will pay for.

To me, a more reasonable lawsuit would be one seeking a sure path for promotion into a power conference, rather than sometimes getting a crumbs in a playoff spot, or depending on state politics. IIMO it should also relegation but no telling how much money the lawyers would make if that were tried.

As it is, Tulane and even GT are probably sorry they left the SEC. As I have said I so admire the donors who are backing SMU sports at present, and the enthusiasm LB and CM have brought to the Hilltop. I hope I'm wrong but the long run looks very iffy to me.

I posted this a while back. This was the money that was going to separate us from the the other have-nots. SMU not making the tourney last year and the conference only getting 2 bids this year is a really, really big deal.

I have not read anywhere our AAC commissioner making a public statement critical of the selection committee. Is he afraid he's going to get some backlash? How could it get any worse?

For now, I think that our strong showing with ESPN will be what separates us from the other have nots. Maybe we can negotiate a deal for half the money the power conferences get the next time we have to re-up with ESPN?
