9 (-2 Credited) Scholarships

Postby Stallion » Tue Sep 29, 2015 8:03 pm

if it makes you feel any better I think this means that over 4 years we need to be a collective 9 scholarships under 13 over that period (or is it over 3 years not sure). Its not technically 9 different recruits. There is discretion given to SMU with regard to when to take the hits but

Example:
2015-16 11 players (-2)
2016-17 10 players (-3)
2017-18 10 players (-3)
2018-19 12 players (-1)

its going to be tough because of the sanctions, the new NCAA academic standards and our APR issues but if can find 8-9 good players for every team and retain our players-big question) then we might be able to maintain the program. Not going to be easy I admit. Can't afford to miss academically or athletically on many recruits though.

I wonder what the strategy will be-could you recruit JUCOs to congregate players with maturity in the upper class. Hmm not sure-then the cupboard will be empty coming out of the sanctions. This will be interesting to see what strategy SMU takes

Not to mention no official visits next summer and recruiting contact cut by 12.5%(congrats committee you can finally divide by 8).

Particularly with cloud over program and visit restrictions. It all rides on the appeal. We need to be telling them RIGHT NOW we are appealing

Or do you wait until the deadline to appeal, so it can drag out for as long as possible?

Guys...we are totally screwed as a private school compared to state schools recruiting as a recruits family can maybe pay for a $18,000 school for a year or two....but a $60,000 a year school??....no friggin way...this is selective enforcement to the highest degree.

Its not selective enforcement but there just might be a disparate impact argument that you could develop by analysis of how many walkons contributed at USC, Penn St etc during similar probations. Don't really know what that analysis would show
