not sure it comes down to Jarry vs Ben E for that spot - but if so i think Jarry is a much more consistent all around player. Perhaps Ben E has a marginally better jumper, but if you recall he was VERY inconsistant with his shot - which was supposed to be the best part of his game.

I would let Ben E come off the bench when we need to give some shooters a rest.

I don't recall anyone ever claiming Gu's shot was a strong part of his game. Go back and look at what he did as a true FR at Va tech and you will find he had a very pedestrian shooting percentage. His all around game was his strength as he was a guy who could defend, handle the ball, distribute and get to the basket. Remember he was a true FR playing against ACC competition and had earned a starting role. Not unlike Sterling, if Gu can return to form he's going to be a solid contributor and may well end up starting with Jarrey being the spark off the bench as our 6th man. Either one of those guys can fill either role (5th starter or 6th man) and both are hopefully going to be key contributors this year.

I agree - No dig on Gu at all - love his play especially on defense. I just think Jarry has a bigger upside and is better overall athlete. Both very solid players.

The one thing I remember from Gu's game is that he is a very strong body and muscles many rebounds away from other guards because of his strength. Plays solid defense. So, he gives you good defense and rebounding from his position so that should always warrant some minutes. Hope his shooting gets back to VaTech days (add all that together and he's a starter or a great 6th man IMHO).

It sounds to me lke Gu is our second option at point right now. The way I see it he starts' and Jarrey is first off the bench relieving him. Then Gu comes back to spell Shake for a bit. We probably see Wilson a bit with Gu while Shake sits.

Jarrey is at the 3 with Sterling. Our guards are Shake, Gu, Wilson and McDowell.

I would expect that Shake, Gu, and Wilson will eat most of the time at guard, and all three are combo guards. Won't play one as the only point, although Shake will bring the ball up most of the time. McDowell will get minutes at the end of the half but will be the last player in the rotation.

With Jarrey banged up right now, minutes aren't a problem. But as the season rolls along, there is a higher probability of Sterling sliding over to the 2 than Jarrey when both are in the game.

Heard Froling is banged up now.

When Jank said that 7 guys have the green light.... who are the two that don't? One is Ben Moore. The other - is it Gu or McDowell?
