Bamba Fall NBA?

Postby MFFL02 » Sun Jan 22, 2006 2:57 am

Right now, do you think Bamba Fall can end up in the NBA?

He reminds me so much of DeSegana Diop.....at this rate, he is definitely worth a 2nd round flyer, EVERY team in the NBA could use a shot blocking center, even as a backup. Bam's only a freshman too, he could bulk up/improve a lot more, at this point, I say yes

With a little extra weight, definitely. He has a lot more talent than some of the stiffs who get signed just because they're tall. If he can add some size and low-post offensive moves, then yeah, I think he's got a chance to play professionally.

With a possible NBA prospect I don't see how when Bamba is a senior we won't be competiting for an NCAA tournament bid.

we may need to point to Bamba's junior year. It takes experience at guard too and Dez and Roberts will be seniors that year. Last night we had 2 freshman (Bamba and Morris), two sophomores (Dez and Roberts) plus Hopkins out there alot of the time. That is a young lineup which should be a formidable nucleus in two years. We now really need a slashing, scoring small forward to go with them (Morris Almond type).

As for Bambas NBA potential, he has a ways to go, but he is going to help SMU a ton if he stays healthy there is no doubt about that. I will say that the catch, spin and dunk move that he exectued last night is not a move many 7'footers can show. Keep that up and add 20 pounds and who knows. I say 20 pounds because I dont think 40 is realistic for his body type.

I think 20 is extremely realistic, especially if he just plays and works out all summer. Also, I think Brian Morris' potential is pretty high.

I think our real concern should be people giving Bamba advice that he could and should go pro early...perhaps as soon as after next season. That doesn't mean I think he'd be ready then, but raw big men with even marginal skills have had a history of going pro early (remember Shawn Bradley?)

FWIW, I was in high school in New Mexico when the Lobos rolled out their new 7 footer, Luc Longley. While Luc was never Wilt, he had a good college career and a decent pro career where he was fortunate to be next to MJ for a lot of rings. I liked what I saw of Bamba Sat. night more than how Longley looked when he was a freshman.

Bamba has the stuff to go pro but it will come down to his dedication, how dedicated is he to work in the offseason, particularly in the weight room, and also in the kitchen!
