Player of the Game

Obviously it was Bamba. He is so exciting and fun to watch it is unbelieveable. Everytime I feel like I might be too tired or too busy to attend a game I think of what Bamba might do that I would miss out on and I go. No other player from SMU has made me feel that excited about attending games. But if I were picking a second player.....

John Killen- He absolutely turned the game around for us. Let me start by saying the 3 point play where he went up for the jam late in the game was unreal. I had no idea Killen had that in him. Talk about adreniline taking over! His defense is great and his pressence on the offensive end is very steady. No he is not a shooter, no he will not blow by his defender, but he is a very stabalizing factor. He is the only Mustang I have seen that can consistently make the entry pass into the post. The team has been most effective this season when getting the ball down to our big men on the block. It really helps create open looks for our offense. I am not sure why but Dez and Bhop either refuse to work it downlow or maybe they are so short is is tough to make the entry pass (Killen is not too much taller). Killen played great for us and was the catalyst along with Bamba to a great comeback W.

Killen had a good game Saturday, his defense is always superb and it was really nice to see him get that big hoop and foul (was a very nice and heads up pass from Pearson, props to him too). He is a good leaper, there was a story about him doing a reverse jam against UT-Pan Am.

I still don't think he is a good ball handler though and he makes lazy passes out on the perimeter. He has been a turnover machine in a few games this year especially compared to his number of minutes. I think he is being used correctly now, come in when we need a defensive spark during and especially at the end of the game.
