Jonathan Sloan MVP2007 Commit Jonathan Sloan received District 10-5A MVP Honors as only a junior, he averaged 18 points and nine rebounds in a tough district. He also made the all region team (all region 2). so i don't kno why all of yaul keep bashing him, the kid can obviously play
hey man welcome to ponyfans. Not to be a jerk, but do you mind changing your name? Its very close to the same as mine and I've been using it for years.
As for Sloan, that is quite an honor and a little surprising. That was a tough district to say the least with Berkner, Newman Smith, and others.
and don't change your commitment if you start getting more interest from other bigger, more well known schools, with better facilities.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Zontar, its a dog eat dog world. No guarantees he signs with us. But what you have to like is that Tubbs has an opinion on players and wanted Sloan early. He's not just waiting for players to fall to him and end up in his lap after the big schools are done.
I'm being serious, I'm no evaluator of talent, and I really hope that he doesn't change his commitment, especially if he is really good, but just hasn't gotten a lot of attention yet because he was on a bad team or facing really tough competition.
Contrary to what you might think I don't want Tubbs to fail, but I'm not going to ignore what I hear from other sources though. The donkey's name is Kiki.

huh? I'm not asking you to ignore anything, whatever that might mean to begin with. The opinions about Sloan vary widely. Lots of people like his game, lots of people don't. It will all depend on how he grows and grows into his body. I will say he is a little bit slow and methodical right now, but his fundmentals are good and as he gains stamina and strength, he could be quality power forward.
Like I said, what I like is how tubbs has an opinion and is getting on guys he likes early, including major prospects. Sloan is more under the radar screen.
sorry, I wasn't paying very close attention as I read and wrote, and I thought you were referring to something else.

Let's face it...the future success of SMU hoops rests on the ability of Tubbs and his staff to evaluate talent...and that's not to say spotting the blue chippers like anyone can do. Like Phil Bennett offering lightly regarded Justin Rogers a football scholarship, our hoops program is at a point in time where Tubbs also has to "project" what a kid might become. It's pretty obvious he's done that with Bamba and with Nyam. I certainly hope Sloan continues to improve his game to the point where more schools start recruiting him next year...and that he sticks to his commitment and signs with Tubbs next year.
Until this program tastes success and can attract some of SMU's long lost fans back to Moody, it will be no small feat for Tubbs to sign the next Ira Terrell or Brian Hopkins.
