Something tells me they aren't giving it a second thought. Sampson was their man. Tthey went out and got him. They are not worrying about some NCAA investigation carying over to them.

You would think that if anyone would be concerned it would be Indiana. They hired the head coach from the time period all the infractions were supposedly taking place for Pete's sake. You think they give a rat's [deleted]?

Only at SMU. It does get tiresome doesn't it?

Bingo. You got it Wildbill. Thank you for injecting some common sense.

So guys, should we have done nothing? If you say we should
n't have, it'll at least clear up where you're coming from.

I've stated where I am coming from on this several times. OU has multiple assistants involved over time. That is the head coach's problem, not the assistants. If Tubbs was a renegade assistant ala Malin, then maybe SMU should weigh it heavily. As it appears, the OU incident better not be weighing heavily on SMU's decision. Thats why IU hiring Sampson is a huge point here.

How much you want to bet those violations are never made public. They probably do not exist.

If they exist, they will be reported by the NCAA at the end of the investigation...they won't coddle us like they do the larger state schools.

I don't think Williams is a saint in this one. Part of me thinks he set Tubbs up with the hamburger stuff. True, Tubbs took the bait. Perhaps Max heard that Tubbs was doing some things from his son that he didn't like, gave him the burger money and the reported him to the University who he knew would bring in the NCAA. Once the NCAA was involved, he might have figured they would look under every rock and find something which would get Tubbs fired. I tend to agree that he should be given the Blount treatment and disassociated from the athletic program, and I hope the NCAA is the one to require it. Or maybe I read too many mystery novels. I don't know, but just when I thought that SMU couldn't surprise us anymore, this happens. What a fustercluck! Perhaps we should change our nickname to SNAFU.

This is absolutely accurate. I cannot believe some people who call themselves SMU fans are defendaing this guy.

ATTENTION MAX WILLAIMS LOVERS: THIS F-ING LOSER CREATED BURGERGATE BUY GIVING THE MONEY TO TUBBS AND THEN DROPPING DIME ON HIM. IF THAT IS A FIRING OFFENSE FOR THE COACH, IT MUST BE A BANISHMENT OFFENSE FOR A BOOSTER. HE IS NOT A FRIEND OF SMU. PERIOD.
