...who bounces around from job to job there because they don't know what to do with him and who's current gig is covering soccer. Ya know what? The SMU beat is a better beat than freakin' MLS soccer.

Why do you think Calvin clings to it so?

He covers that and boxing. At least with boxing, you get to go to Vegas and Atlantic City.

I'll look for him in Vegas this weekend. Taking ake my annual pilgrimage to bet big on SMU to win it all this year.

The band did have those shirts (white/blue stripes) at some point in the 80's-90's, and for whatever reason, a decision was made to go to red polos and blue polos (alternating). The only thing about the striped shirt is that it is SO overdone, but I would like to see something unique. I think the Arkansas band used to wear bright red overalls; I'd like something clever like that (definitely NOT overalls, but you know what I mean). Even just white oxford shirt, khakis, blue/red tie would look good and would fit the SMU "look".
Iowa State's band has cool hockey jerseys they wear. KU band for years wore a zip up athletic type jacket. I think I've also seen baseball jerseys (how ironic would that be at SMU??). Incidentally, I thought the hottest cheerleaders in the tournament were not the ones wearing SMU style micro tops and skirts that double as belts and don't really fit, but the UCLA cheerleaders, who were wearing fitted basketball jerseys. Very cute and unique.

White and Blue stripe rugby shirts is very duke. I don't remember them when I was at SMU but I am sure I was out on them in the mid 90's as I am sure I attributed it to Pye's attempt to Duke-ify everything. I think red&blue rugby shirts would be a good look for the students. Band too, whatever.

I agree with what's been said about how the band makes the college bball game experience. It's also the cheerleaders and the pompom squad. We need to get rid of the tiny tarts, prostetots and frisbee dogs and have our own pompom squad and cheerleaders perform instead. During the Christmas break, maybe local high school drill teams could do dance routines instead, but certainly not girls in their early teens and younger.

Steve Davis' comments are an example of typical 'hot-shot-I'm-too-cool-to-give-a-sh*t-about-SMU-Dallas-journalist' speak.
Next.
(was that too bitter?)
GO SMU!
