Beat CarolinaHopefully the team is fired up to show they're better than Saturday looked. The Tar Holes have a very pedestrian-looking 9-6 record, but have played a tough schedule. Tomorrow will tell us a lot about both teams.
Re: Beat CarolinaEnfield said we picked the wrong day to play a bad game.
My question is: did we play a bad game, or was it simply a result of playing one of the best teams in the country? We're lightyears better under Enfield, but we have a ways to go before we compete with teams like that.
Re: Beat CarolinaDid he say why it was a bad game? Free throws for sure were bad. Duke had a 19% shooting advantage from the floor, 17% advantage from deep, and 31% difference from the line.

Re: Beat CarolinaObviously Duke is a high talent team, but that has nothing to do with our free throw percentage. We left a lot of points off the board with our free throw shooting.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Beat CarolinaCombination of Duke having better athletes, their playing really well and our guys playing a below average game and shooting poorly. If we had shot FTs at our normal clip that would have been a really tight game at the half. I didn't get to watch the 2nd half but obviously things went downhill fast. I remember Eddie Sutton saying how important he thought the 1st 4 and last 4 minutes of each half were very "telling" and often dictated the outcome and we were pretty bad in the 1st 4 and last 4 of the 1st half.
Re: Beat CarolinaI interpreted Enfields comment as a bad day to shoot so poorly and miss free throws. After seeing Duke in person, we were never going to win that game, but it could have been much closer at home.
Re: Beat CarolinaI'm in NC for work this week and have tix to tonight's game. Does anyone know of any SMU gatherings in Chapel Hill before the game?
