Matt Doherty and his SMU staff have dipped into the Prep School ranks to add a solid floor leader in Mike Walker...

According to a source close to the program and confirmed by a source close to the Walker family, 6-0 point Mike Walker who is attending prep school at South Kent, CT School has made his college choice and will attend SMU.

According to our source Mike felt extremely comfortable with the SMU staff, especially since family friend Lance Irvin is on the staff. He was also impressed with the school and the opportunity to compete for PT right away.

Just one year ago, Mike Walker left Iowa City West to head east to South Kent, and South Kent Head Coach Raphael Chillious told Hoopmasters, that Walker had become his top point guard! He is capable of hitting jumper from arc or deliver rock to big man on the blocks.

Walker is also a top notch defender who never backs down from the challenge of guarding South Kent's opponents top offensive guard.

His steady play will be welcomed by the Mustangs as Coach Deherty re-build's the program.

He chose SMU over Miami (OH), Toledo, William & Mary, and Rhode
