And SMU's class is pretty darn good, but people that follow Rivals would probably agree that a 3* in BB is much easier to attain than a 3* in FB. Don't seem to mean the same quality in Basketball at least from my perspective. Maybe that's because there are 3 times as many teams but its pretty obvious.
I think the 3 star classification might be a lot more broad in basketball than in football. For instance I think there are often 3 star players in the top 100 rivals hoops players whereas I don't think a 3 star could sniff the top 100 football prospects. And while a 3 star could be a top 100 bball player, none of our 3 stars are even in the rivals top 150 and would imagine Dia would be the closest of any.
Regardless, a fantastic recruiting class. If Doherty can get classes with full of 3 stars for consecutive seasons he will do some real damage like all of us are hoping for/expect.

Maybe Tubbs should have been hitting the recruiting trail and making sure his guys were going to class instead of handing out burgers and Cheer.

Very kind.
Look, I'm trying to have a friendly conversation here and, since I respect your opinion, I'm trying to understand how you could be undecided about the impact that Doherty's made here in his short tenure. Nice recruiting class, strong facility improvements, strong public image, well spoken, and blood from a turnip with respect to what he's gotten out of these players. How is all of that not at least mildly encouraging?

2007 is the year of the kinder, gentler jtstang. So far.

So far I've been impressed with Doherty's moves. So far this season has exceed my expectations of this team. Clearly, the team is playing excellent defense (which they were last year). Scoring seems balanced. There are no 30 point per game guys on this team. Recruiting seems to be good. As far as PonySoprano's comments, Tubbs was recruiting and we seemed to be among the finalists for a lot of tremendous players. However, there can be only one bride at the wedding and many of those players went elsewhere including to known powerhouses like UNC, Kansas and Wake Forest. Not every kid from Dallas is going to want to stay in Dallas. I think the next two years could be solid years for the Mustangs.
