Kings of the NIT, Memphis, Already Blamingtheir predictable "early March Madness exit", on the weak C-USA. It has been entertaining, amusing and of course oh so predicatable to listen to the local radio and tv folks. All worried that Mempho will bow out early, lose to some unknown mid conference opponent in the big dance. And the number one reason why they will go down, the crap [deleted] prepartion they had from Nov - Mar, aka the C-USA...the exciuses are already flying in this town, lowering expectations, blame game stuff, etc....the kings of the NIT are "nervous"....it seems to me that MANY mid major bball studs with "weak" conference opponents have perfromed above and beyond during the tourney...ISU and Bird...George Mason..Valpo...Wichita State, etc., etc.... it would be so so nice if the Ponies could rise to the task v. the tiggers at home, or at least put a little scare in the NIT Kings. Long Live Jeff Swanson.
yes, it would be nice to compete with Memphis...but the truth is that we will get blown out by 30 pts or more and can only hope that next year's recruiting class marks the beginning of the turnaround for this program.
Let's hope Memphis can at least represent CUSA in the sweet 16. I'd like to think they are at least that good a team. They should be thankful for CUSA and their inflated ranking...at least it puts them in the NCAA Tourney rather than the NIT. If Memphis was in the Big East or ACC/SEC, they might be one of this year's bubble teams. Bottom line is they are likely to be our only representative, so I hope they go a long ways. Will CUSA be represented in the NIT? Who is worthy?? There is no denying this conference is WEAK this year
