DALLAS (SMU) --- The SMU men's basketball team will host its second-annual Tip-Off Dinner presented by Guaranty Bank at Moody Coliseum on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. Legendary basketball analyst Bill Raftery will serve as the keynote speaker and head coach Matt Doherty will give insight into his second season on the Hilltop.

Mustang fans can buy individual tickets for $75 or sponsor a table for $750, which includes nine tickets plus a coach or student-athlete. To register or get more information, contact SMU at 214-768-1384 or visit www.SMUMustangs.com.

"It is great to have a commitment from one of college basketball's best announcers in Bill Raftery," says Doherty. "He has been covering college basketball for ESPN and CBS for over 20 years. He is one of the funniest men I know. It will make for a very entertaining evening at Moody Coliseum."

Keynote speaker Bill Raftery is in his 24th season as an analyst for CBS Sports' college basketball coverage. He also serves as an analyst for CBS Radio/Westwood One's coverage of the NCAA Men's Final Four and for college basketball on ESPN. Since 1981, Raftery has announced several events, including the Big Ten Championship, the ACC Championship, the Big East Championship, the SEC Championship, the McDonald's High School All-Star game and the NIT pre-season and championship games.

The Mustangs' 2007-08 season begins when SMU hosts the inaugural SMU Tip-Off Classic on Saturday, Nov. 10, and Sunday Nov. 11. The Mustangs face Southern on Saturday at 7:35 p.m., and then matchup with Alabama State on Sunday at 4:35 p.m. The Ponies will have a team-record 18 home games at Moody Coliseum and play a total of 22 events in the state of Texas. Conference USA action begins at UTEP on Wednesday, Jan. 9, and concludes at Rice on Mar. 8. The Mustangs' home schedule concludes when defending league champion Memphis visits Moody Coliseum on Mar. 5. The Conference USA Championship returns to the FedEx Forum in Memphis from March 12-15.
