SMU Women Get First Win on the Road

Postby Tipoff96 » Tue Nov 13, 2007 10:04 pm

Congrats to the Women's team. They defeated TX A&M Corpus Christi on the road this evening. Listened to the game - sounds like TX A&M CC made everything they threw up in the second half. Nice job by the ladies to make big plays down the stretch to get the win.

My guess would be SMU > TAMUCC

Sorry - just posted the story from smumustangs.com in another thread.

Sounded in the broadcast like A&M-CC was making everything they threw up there.

Nice win, Ponies!

A solid second half that tossed a scare into SMU couldn't offset an equally struggling opening 20 minutes for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team.

Trailing by as many as 17 points early in the second half, the Islanders roared back but came up short in a 74-70 loss to the Mustangs.

"I'm going to say first of all I'm hurt. It hurts," said Islanders junior Elisa Beagle, who scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. "When you fight back so hard and put so much into it and come up short by three or four points it feels like all that fighting and stuff was for nothing.

"I did think we put in a good effort. SMU just hit some key shots. I could say I could've capitalized on some of my free throws, which made a difference at one point in the game.
