If a coach on the caliber of Schellas does it, it isn't an "issue", it is just good coaching practice.

I think this was a 100% Doherty recruit too, which makes it more odd.
I thought he and Malone were JT's.
Jimmy was long gone before anyone started recruiting Nyakundi. He was a late bloomer that began to rise the summer before his year in high school, and then had a very strong senior year. Before July of 2006, no one was really looking at him.

I agree with Hoop Fan that he was an intriguing prospect, a very tall forward with a smooth shot, and he was apparently still growing.

You may be thinking of Jonathan Sloan, who committed to us early, at the same time that Alex Malone did. Doherty decided he didnt want to offer Sloan a scholarship, so he re-opened his recruiting. You'll see him at the end of this month, he plays for Texas State now.

from listening to the show i did not gather that Nyakundi was off the team for good. I thought that Doh said he gave Nyakundi a list of things that he needed to accomplish and when accomplished he would be back.

I think people here are misinterpreting the comments from last night's show. Coach said Nyakundi was not with the team "right now" and would be redshirted. He indicated that he had some things he need to focus more off the court (I took that as "he needs to go to class and get his grades in shape" but I could be misinterpreting the vague comments too), and once he does that, he be back with the team.

coach DOH did NOT say that Robert Nayakuni was off the team - he said he was suspended- said that he had a lot of talent and expected him to be a contributor next year

Thanks XtC, you are absolutely correct, I was thinking of Jonathan Sloan.
