all of those Seniors are going to be replaced by better athletes. won't miss them at all. They were streaky inconsistent players themselves who have their own clearly apparent weaknesses. Killen scored some points on a bad team-somebody had to-he also was an inconsistent ball handler and turned the ball over all the time. Ritter-addition by substraction. Roberts injury plagued and never improved from his freshman year whether because of injury or other reasons. Just replacing mediocracy
I don't expect losing the seniors to hurt much. 18-20 wins should be doable w/a horrible schedule. I'm still not sure what the roster will look like, though. If two kids are prepping, and we're still recruiting 08, it's safe to say some additional shake-up is in the works.
As long as Otis/Dubois/McCoy don't prep, we're looking ok. Personally, I'd like to see what Haynes has post-injury as well. He seemed like the most athletic of the bunch and shot pretty well from 3 in high school. Is Rhodes definitely out of the equation? What are we expecting from TK if anything? Is Nyakundi gonna ball? Can Malone learn to do anything off the bounce? I really like the kid ALOT offensively, imagine his effectiveness from 3, if he can go by people playing him tight. Dia should be pretty dominant, and Bamba needs to sniff double doubles every night. No idea what to expect from Harp. Hopefully, better shooting and handle. The roster is definitely heading in the right direction, just need to see how the pieces fit and who actually is on the roster come Fall “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
I see your point, but I disagree that they won't be missed. Killen at least had the ability to get on a roll once in a while, a game when he would simply carry the offense by drilling 3s from all over the place. With him gone, who has the ability to just go on a scoring tear, to carry an offense when the others aren't hitting shots? The young guys might all improve - I think they will - but there is no go-to scorer (even an inconsistent streak scorer) on the roster at the moment. Plagiarize!
Let no one else's work evade your eyes. Remember why the good lord made your eyes. So don't shade your eyes, just Plagiarize, plagiarize, plagiarize! (Only be sure always to call it, please .... "research.")
I expect to see an exciting brand of uptempo basketball with alot of intensity. Improved ballhandling & FG shooting %.
More players taking the ball to the hole, able to create their own shot. I also want to see an upgrade in the schedule. No reason we shouldn't be playing UT, A&M, Baylor, TT, OU, OSU, ARK, LSU sprinkled in with UTA, UNT, SFA, Texas State etc. I would like to see the 2 tournaments continued with some of the teams mentioned above. These are the types of teams that will bring college hoops fans to Moody or American Airline Arena.
I heard we are playing Pepperdine this year in Malibu; that should be a good one for all the west coast alums.
The school I thought I heard from the WCC was Santa Clara. But I talked about the schedule with Herman some months ago. At the time, he thought it would be relatively the same. Dayton rotates off, we go to TCU and Colorado comes here -- think that's right.
As DC Pony just reported on the Recruiting thread, DuBois wants to get out of his commitment for personal reasons. NOT GOOD! http://www.ponyfans.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=32409 Never, EVER trust someone with a French name!
Killen has been an overachieving spare with no consistency. I wish him well at his real job. Pony P-1
