Need Some Help

Postby 50's PONY » Mon Oct 06, 2008 2:54 pm

We are trying to find a copy of the basketball game between SMU and Brigham Young on 3-18-93. This was an NCAA Tournament game. If you have a copy please email me at [email protected]. If it is VHS I will transfer it and mail you back a DVD.
Thanks.

Who was it that busted out in that game?
Ike Upshaw? The original Kwame Brown?

It was Ike. Career highs in points and rebounds, he was player of the game, even though we lost.

I remember that game, and Upshaw's strong performance.
The next year, the preview mags talked about his monstrous physique and how he suddenly had an NBA future. Oops.

They did? Because a year later Ike was a State Trooper. BYU was the last game he ever played.

I remember that someone from the DMN(Blackistone?) wrote a nice column about Ike after that game.

What a shame that game was, SMU was so much more athletic but nobody could put the ball in the basket that day, although SMU made a nice comeback at the end.

That was a fun team to watch. I still remember that day, I had just started my job and had bought a new TV to watch the game and snuck out of work early.....

Little did I know that day was the last time SMU would be a part of any meaningful post season play in either football or basketball...

I remember that game...oh wait...the athletic department didn't send the Band. We were the ONLY school in the field of 64 that didn't. Thanks Uncle Forrest!

I had just received my acceptance letter to SMU and I went and bought my first SMU hat before the game. Like you bagice, I had no idea that would be our last taste of post season play to date?? I really had high expectations of the program after watching that game.

You guys will be pleased to know that I was seaching for a copy for the great James Gatewood. We didn't have a copy in the Heritage Hall inventory and now we do -- and James is very excited.
