[quote="Charleston Pony"]back to last night's game, I can tell you (as someone who watches a lot of Southern Conference basketball) that Ga Southern is no slouch. These guys won 20 games last year and returned a bunch of veteran players. Davidson has made that conference much stronger. College of Charleston dominated the conference for years, but now they are all chasing Davidson (that sounds familiar).

TCU will be opening Bobby Cremins' College of Charleston Cougars' new arena this Friday. Pretty good hoops in the So Con.[/quote

I completely agree about the SoCon. That said, a loss by Houston hurts the CUSA in a big way. Not only did they lose to a supposedly inferior conference, they didn't get the opportunity to play Dook in Rd 2. If Houston has anything near the team speed/skill level they've had these past few years, they would have been an interesting match-up for the Devils. It's more then a loss, its a lost opportunity for the league in a quality preseason tournament.

Its one reason we need to give our best effort vs the Big east this Friday
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

Coogs were 5.5 pt dogs to GA Southern and lost by two. The Jucos haven't jelled yet and Brockeith Pane (from Dallas) didn't make the trip due to disciplinary reasons. Things will get better but it was certainly a tough loss.

Looking forward to SMU hoops and some more improvement. I'll see UH vs. WKU this Saturday before the Tulsa football game. I'll make the last SMU game but losing ES and AR was terrible. However, you might as well do it now (vs. when something's on the line) and stick to your rules.
