ROUNDBALL REWIND with Katie Remke Seal: Who's the new leader

Postby PonyPride » Mon Nov 17, 2008 12:25 am

Our own Katie Remke Seal is back for her second year as PonyFans.com's expert women's basketball columnist.

In her first offering of the season, she focuses on the graduation of last year's stellar senior class, and how they must be replaced — not only on the stat sheet, but also in practice and during games in the all-important leadership role. How long that takes will have a major impact on the Ponies' success in 2008-09.

Enjoy!

Really good story ... and dead-on. We have some kids who can score, but until that leadership role is filled, I expect more struggles. Personally, I'm fine with taking our lumps in non-conference games as long as we iron out the kinks by the time the C-USA games start.

Go MUSTANGS!

Another strong entry. These columns from the experts/former players are yet another thing that really separates this site from all others. Thanks for what all of you do.

Hopefully the new leader(s) of this team start to emerge tonight in Arkansas. Until that leadership shows itself, we could be in for a bit of a rough ride, but I tend to buy into the idea that we're playing this season for conference - not national - accolades, so if we have to get beaten around a little between now and January, so be it. With a perfect performance, I think we can play with any team on the schedule, with the possible exception of A&M. But we didn't look anywhere near perfect in the opener, and if we're not perfect tonight, that game won't go well, either. We were spoiled last year with so many talented seniors - now we need to get some of these younger players to take on bigger roles.
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!
