I think that he is going to turn this thing around after he was dealt a sour deck to start.
I want to ask a series of questions from all posters and those that they would like to see coach?
Did you play with Michael Jordan?
Did you win a National Championship?
Were you drafted by the NBA?
Did you win National D1 Coach of the Year?
Did you recruit a team that won the National Championship?
Are you the Head Coach of SMU?
Only Matt Doherty can answer yes to all these questions...
Take a step back, he is the right man for the program, we have taken our lumps, but give him a chance, he will make it happen.
/cheers
All of these questions are irrelevant to the current state of the program. They have no bearing on where it's at. How about these.
How would you characterize the progress the program has made under your direction?
How would you characterize the development of a highly touted player in Papa Dia?
How would you characterize the development of the front court of this program in general?
How would you characterize your game management abilities?
How would many times have you lost to teams who had RPIs far lower than yours?
Did you beat UAPB and UTSA at Moody Coliseum this year. Did you beat SC Upstate? Did you beat NC A&T.
Does your team lead CUSA in turnovers?
Does your team lead CUSA in fewest assists?
After seeing what I'm seeing, I do not believe Doherty can move this program in the direction that we envision.
If you've noticed, he's pretty much shut down the salesmanship approach because the Ls are speaking louder than him.
I'm fine with him coming back next year because that's probably going to happen. But if we're not at .500 or a couple of games above and in the middle of the CUSA standings, I think his resume here will speak for itself.
