ConditioningPerhaps that's our problem. Notice how we seem to play very good basketball for 30 minutes, only to fade away in the last 10 minutes, and eventually lose the game.
But if that were the case, wouldn't we suck for the first 30 minutes of the game as well?
I wouldn't think that's it. If you are this deep into the season, you should be up to speed. Again, I think it comes back to leadership in the final minutes of a game.
Actually, I'm inclined to agree that our talent is better but doesn't know how to win. But it doesn't look like the guy on the bench can get them there.
I don't think it's conditioning. I just think our guys play tight with a lead or down the stretch of games
Also factor in the other team not going all out the start of the game because it is SMU - then when it really matters down the stretch they step it up and we don't or can't. In other words, the other team knew it was going to beat us - doesn't really matter that they spotted us some points during the first part of the game
Every team we play expects to beat us - even Arkansas PB.... Opponents don't panic because they are confident that they can reel us in and beat us in the last 10 minutes - and most do. Especially galling is the fact that they come into our gym expecting to win. The opposing coaches work the refs like they are at home, there is no intimidating atmosphere from the stands, and we sure as hell don't defend our home court. When was the last time you saw one of our players knock the sh#t out of someone attacking the lane?????? And we have a coach that was known for his attitude and elbows on the court????? When was the last time you saw us set a bone jarring pick or knock someone out of the way in establishing position down low????I guess I wouldn't mind losing as much if the other team was limping off our court rubbing their jaws...............
I think everyone in the crowd expected us to lose when they got within 5. When their guy traveled in the lane and kicked it out and they drained the three, it was the last bit of air going out of the balloon. At least the first half was fun to watch.
Tulsa had a lot of folks there, and I think our fans brought them down because they did not show a lot of life either. Not to be down on our fans; it is hard to get excited when you are so beaten down. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
