Stal old buddy, CPC has a recruit for you. Check him out:
"Bio Notes: O'Neal Mims committed to Minnesota out of Reagan H.S. in Austin, Tex., but didn't qualify academically.
Mims started out his freshman year in 2001-2002 at Paris J.C. in Texas before moving on to Redlands J.C. in Oklahoma for a semester.
Mims left Redlands for Frank Phillips College in Borger, Tex., but lasted less than a semester at FPC. He resurfaced in the summer of 2003 at Fort Scott C.C. in Kansas.
-- Russ Blake, JUCO Junction"
There you go amigo, all for you. Junior college big power forward, non-qualifier academically, 4 different JCs so far, he even gets 3 Stars on Rivals! Everything you ever asked for, and he lists SMU as one of his leaders, in front of...... Fresno State. There you go amigo, a present for you, from the CPC.

Some will tell you that a glass is half empty, and others that the same glass is half full. But all CPC really wants to know is...... does the drink taste good?

Whoa. It doesn't sound like you are joking. SMU is one of this kid's leaders? Is Fresno really on his list or is that part in gest? Who else is on this guys list? I'm all for a level playing field, but 4 schools in such a short time sounds a little Baylor-like actually.

CPC enjoys a good jest as much as anyone, or more, and he must admit to chuckling pretty hard while he posted that one, but that doesnt means its not all true. Rivals subscribers can read it for themselves. Fresno was recruiting Mims when he was at Frank Phillips CC, but now they may be finding it hard to scout his games since apparently there's no telling which color uniform he will be wearing next. The other schools listed were College of Charleston, New Mexico State, and Southern U. (La.). And thats all the news thats fit to print, have fun with this one. CPC is going to hang his hammock out by the pool now, and take a nap.

This is a scholar in search of a place which can challenge him academically. Four schools have failed. Maybe SMU can help this poor soul.

Or better yet, copy it and post it here!
Couldn't get into Minnesota and wants in at SMU? Not likely.
How big is he?

What does CPC look like, the Cut and Paste Chicken? Actually there isnt much more information than whats already been posted here. The Rivals site has an old story on him from last November, before he left FPC, and the list of schools that CPC has already mentioned. And they give him 3 stars. Thats it.
It wasnt that he couldnt get into Minnesotta, he couldnt accept a scholarship from any Division 1 school. Thats what it means to be a Non or Partial qualifier. Big 10 schools dont allow partial qualifiers at all. Before you start thinking that Minnesotta's requirements are that much different from SMU's remember that SMU was ready to admit Alou Kane, before he signed with the Gophers. In Mims case the whole thing may be a moot point, to be eligible anywhere he has to graduate, earn an associates degree, from at least one of the many junior colleges where he has wandered around the campus. The odds on him doing that arent great. He may have to play at a lower level.
Mims is 6'8" and about 210. If CPC had to compare him to any recent SMU players, it would be DeWayne Floyd. He's almost a dead ringer for Floyd.
On the other end of the academic spectrum, it looks like SMU has dropped out of the running for big forward Paulius Packevicius, a Lithuanian import who recently moved to Arlington. Packevicius had scholarship offers from several respectable programs (Minnesotta, Texas Tech, Oregon State, Colorado State) but he seems more interested in the Ivy League. Penn, Princeton and Rice are at the top of his list.
Thats all for now, CPC will return........ when he feels like it.
