Recruiting class earns No. 34 national rank

Postby PonyPride » Sat Nov 28, 2009 8:57 pm

Southern Methodist University earns #34 ranking among recruiting classes in the 2010 early signing period for women's basketball, published by the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report.

The Mustangs signed five, including two transfers of influence:

#83: Kristen Hernandez (5-10 SG — Duncanville, Texas/Duncanville HS), a transfer from Ojlahoma State brings a power-guard game combined by finesse on the perimeter.

#29: Kelsey Hatcher (5-9 PG — Little Rock, Ark./Central Arkansas Christian), the second transfer from Oklahoma State brings a smooth shooting touch and court savvy to SMU.

#195: Akil Simpson (5-11 SF — Duncanville, Texas/Duncanville HS), an ultra-athletic, versatile performer with untapped potential from an in-state powerhouse program.

#185: Mallory Singleton (6-2 PF — Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS), another versatile insider with face-up skills to the arc.

#550: Raven Short (5-11 SF — Highland Village, Texas/Marcus HS), a promising perimeter threat and another in-state product.

The Mustangs finish on top in Conference USA among recruiting classes in the early signing period while addressing perimeter needs with impact transfers and promising rookies.

Yeah — what's wrong is I entered it on the wrong page. So I moved it.

I guess you're forgiven ... just this once.

Remember, when we're talking about new talent that will take the floor next year, we get Delisha Wills back, too. We have some good seniors finishing up this year, but next year's team should be pretty solid, too, especially if those transfers are ready to roll next year.

I saw my first games of the year this weekend, and speaking of transfers, Raquel Christian is going to be a really nice addition. If the OSU transfers can be as prepared as she is, Coach R's wins will just keep piling up.

Why yes — yes, she is.

Fixed. Thanks.

And just to show off, I also changed the "222" at the beginning of the author's website to "www" — which was done intentionally, of course. :D

I thought this was great news after watching SMU in the Diamond Head Classic, then I read the thread and realized that it's the girls team with the recruits, how sad.

During the holidays I was able to see our recruits play at the Sandra Meadows tournament in Duncanville, and came away encouraged, particularly by Akil Simpson. Duncanville is undefeated and ranked #1 in Texas, and #10 in the country by USAToday. Before the tournament I checked their stats and Akil was leading the team in rebounds, assists, and steals, and was second in points and blocked shots. In the tournament, she was the leading scorer in every game, and was named the tournament MVP. She really played well, an excellent all-around game, and she could be a star here in the future.

Don't say that as you will get slammed.....I always thought it would be just a courtesy and professional just to say WBB or MBB and keep it simple. It's no disrespect to the other if its posted that way.... I like both programs and am just like others here that just like to know before I open what I am going to read about....
