That being said I am further concerned that entering the last year of a contract with no extension (and at this point I do not feel that he needs one) will be very bad for recruiting. I have no problem with him finishing next year providing he is at least .500 this year. My greatest fear is that SO will make a unilateral decision to keep him beyond his 5 yr. contract without a performance record that justifys it.

GO PONIES!!!

No worries on info. It's just what I heard, so take it w/a grain of salt. I'm not real concerned about what happened last year or the year before to be honest. I'm more concerned w/program identity, and do we have a model in place that can work in CUSA moving forward. We hired a big name coach that's rep was forged at high majors. It's going to take a year r two to figure out the right kind of players etc. Frankly, slow tempo basketball tends to win nationwide. It neutralizes athletes. Look at how competitive UVA is this year in the ACC w/very little other then Sylvan Landesburg. There are some name coaches in CUSA, but very few teams look truly coached. Tons of undisciplined run'n'gun hoops that makes some AAU squads look organized. For that reason alone, playing slow seems to make sense. What's more encouraging is how the '10 kids seem to fit perfectly w/that style.

If Doh is brought back for year 5, I think an extension will have to be worked almost immediately. It can be chock full of out clauses for the AD, but to recruit effectively, it needs to be done. As for '11, the current staff is already doing very well on the trail. I know 2, possibly 3 guys, all quality Texas kids, that have us in their top 2, if not 1st. I'm a big fan of the new staff, even if lukewarm on Doh.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

Good win for SMU.

So what is the definition of a "signature win"? Going 1-3 since the Memphis game makes it just look like an upset to me.

I've heard the same thing about the prospects for next year's class.
Hope that optimism comes to fruition.
