Re:that assist to turnover ratio is very uncharacteristic of the pony teams I've watched. Sounds like they are pushing the ball a little more and getting some good shots. Fun basketball....hmmm...this is how I thought we would play before the year started. Ponies up 14, 5:10 left.
it helps that we are playing Tulsa. I expect coach Phillips will be gone after this miserable year by their standards. Never thought we'd beat them 3 times in one season...of course, it ain't over yet.
Assuming we are getting ready to advance, Thursday is a different level of competition!
I would imagine they won't take the worst season in ages for Tulsa. They are used to making the tourney every single year. Phillips lucked out last year with the talent he had...never thought he was that great of a coach.
Hopkins is playing great tonight. I can't believe this SMU teams has 22 assists and only 10 TO's. Hopkins is 9-11 and 6-7 from 3 point land - that is the Hop we were waiting for!!
*huge smile*

Re:True about another level of competition although we have been competitive against each of the top teams in at least one of our outings with them. Hopefully the momentum will carry over and we will play well thursday. Interesting point the radio guy made about BHop being out to prove himself after being left off the 1st and 2nd team. Guess he is doing that pretty successfully tonight.
Re:Lineberg calls Hopkins being left off the WAC 1st and 2nd team as the biggest travesty in the history of the league. Nice... Not sure why but reminded me of Cavan's statement about our first win in Ford being the biggest in SMU history....guess the WAC has no history/tradition though.
Great game tonight ponies. was a pleasure to listen to unlike a number of the games this season. Keep it up. Tear up Nevada.
I loved the comment by Lineburg, didnt seem Cavan-like to me. It was a slap in the face by the coaches and he needs to stick up for his players. Thats what a coach does. Also liked the comment he made about the players responding with effort and that anything worth doing is worth doing with enthusiasm. The guy is working his [deleted] off and giving his best. He deserves alot of credit for the way he has handled this thing.
I want to add my congrats to Coach Lineburg and the team. Way to respond big time in an incredibly difficult situation.
There is no question the players have responded to Coach Lineburg. What a crazy season. Good luck on Thursday!! Let's dream the impossible dream of going to the NCAA's!!
