Fellas, Jone sis all about Doh and his relationship w/Jones' Dad, from what I'm told. Cotton was a nice extra, but its not like Jones is a Kimball kid. He's a one year Kimball player that moved schools for better comp and a national schedule.

Either way, Jarion Henry would be a freakin coup

Given how the academic standards have put us on more competitive ground, I'm still wondering how we were able to do this with the Kimball kid and the South Texas kid.

The new assistants?

Doherty realizing he better change his ways in Texas? New approach? Better contacts?

He certainly couldn't sell his track record here. Maybe he sold "You can be the man, and we'll get to the tournament because of you?"

Doh, any idea.

Heck, maybe I'll even come to watch that crappy OOC schedule because of what we know is coming.

This is very good news and now comes the hard part - keeping Doh from mentally gutting these kids with his Jekyll and Hyde routine..............

With Doh's job security on the line, I don't think he does this. Watching the last 8-10 games last year, Doh really calmed down and let the flow of the game dictate how he coached. Guys played looser and better.

We don't have anyone from South Texas, and unless the basketball has changed down there in the last few years, we probably don't want anyone from South Texas, either.

Ryan Manual is from the Houston area, which is not South Texas.

Patton, last year we switched to a modified princeton to control tempo vs more talented up & down squads. We ran the offense very poorly b/c it wasn't the primary system of any coach on staff including Doh. That said, it was still effective in getting CUSA teams to play our speed. Doh determined that he needed a master of the princeton and 2/3 match-up to teach the systems in earnest, b/c they'll work in CUSA. Enter Mangino who won the MWC at Air Force running this system.

Mangino is running the O & D, and not recruiting at all. Doh's new responsibilities include being recruit coordinator and hitting the trail hard. What you are seeing is more delegation to the staff on all things basketball, and a rejuvenated Doh on the trail. Simply, he's the difference in recruiting right now. He's the primary on Jones, Norman, & Cunningham. Reggie Brown was Manuel.

Simply, Doh is back to his roots ie recruiting. Both he & Lutz are very good recruiters, but something was a bit off there. Most that I've spoken with, that know Doh, feel he's much more in his comfort zone, now that he's recruiting again. Also, when the system is truly in and being executed, I've heard we'll pick the tempo up. Princeton doesn't by definition mean we'll eat clock, it's just a disciplined way to play

We will definitely have the athletes to go more up tempo next year for sure.

I think Reggie Brown is not getting enough credit. I heard he has been recruiting these kids hard.
Keep up the good work!!!!
