SMU To Host Big Brother/Big Sister Event Saturday

DALLAS (SMU) --- The SMU women's basketball team will hold a Big Brothers/Big Sisters clinic from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov 13. The Mustang coaches and staff will teach basketball to 60 young girls from second to eighth grade.

"It is truly great to have a chance to make a difference in the lives of our youth," said SMU head coach Rhonda Rompola. "We are able to invite the girls into our facility and teach the game of basketball as well as let them have fun. It's wonderful to be involved with such a great cause."

The 60 "littles" from Saturday and their matched 60 "bigs" will be invited to perform at the Jan. 23 home game against UTEP.

The Big Brothers and Big Sisters program aims to create and sustain a meaningful and professionally monitored match between volunteers and children. For more information about Big Brothers and Big Sisters see the general information posted above.

The Mustangs tip-off their season with a home game against Utah on Nov. 12 at 5:30 p.m. SMU will play 14 home games at Moody Coliseum this season, where the Mustangs have won 12 or more games each year since the 2004-05 season.
