Troubling News About EatonAn Insiders update states that Eaton has decided on four official visits for September -- Cincy, Oklahoma State, LSU, and SAN DIEGO STATE. Someone will have to explain to me how San Diego State got in the mix. Eaton said that IF he takes a fifth visit it will be between Arkansas, A&M, and SMU.
Just guessing here, but I think he has a pretty good feel for SMU. He knows the facilities, hes played at Moody many times and he knows the coach. As for SDSU, maybe he is just using his official visit to go to one of the nicest areas on the planet. I think SMU will remain a contender until he announces otherwise. He is a monster recruit, SMUs chances were never more than 30%, but any chance at a blue chip is good to have.
HF is right. Eaton knows SMU, Tubbs, and the guys on the team very well. If you were him, would you rather use an official visit on a school that's a short 15 minute ride up the freeway or take a weekend trip to sunny So Cal?? Like HF, I'm just guessing on the SDSU visit but I'm confident were still in the Eaton sweepstakes.
Why the surprise about sdsu? They will play on tv, and have some guy named Fisher as coach. (Or maybe you forget he led champ teams at michigan.) While sdsu is a bit of a party school, it still has a lot of support from the city, unlike our own SMU.
I hope Tubbs can land Eaton, but I realize it will be tough. Go Ponies!
Recruits are limited to five official visits. An official visit is when the college pays for your trip(transportation, food, lodging, etc.). Unofficial visits are unlimited for all recruits.
Eaton can visit SMU dozens of times unofficially if he so desires, so why would he consider burning an official trip just to go accross town? Granted, sometimes kids will take officials to a hometown school, but this normally occurs after a verbal commitment has actually taken place. In other words, do not get overly excited that Eaton is not using one of his five officials to see a school in his very own city.
