I don't bump threads - but I know there was some discussion about him and St Johns this year.
Quite impressive considering Doh said something to the effect it was a terrible job. They beat Duke and Pitt this year.

I had posted ( under spacepony) what he had done and how maybe Doherty and Lavin's coaching paths had been similar in some respects, PonyDoh apparently just doesn't like Coach Steve personally.

well, he's probably a Coach of the Year candidate. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me.
No idea what Lavin's MO is, but seems like a decent guy.

The scary thing about St John's is that Steve Lavin is not known as a regular season coach, but he is definitely clutch in the tournament. I would not be surprised to see St John's in the final four this season.

Yeah but mustangxc have you seen his coaching staff? That's a lot of coaching expertise on that bench with Steve and guess what?...... Coach Doherty hasn't been known as a 'regular season coach' either, but seasoning and having some great basketball minds on the sideline with you makes one a lot smarter.

Heck he was only hired last May and they still had one of the best recruiting classes in the country with a short timing leash.....wasn't SMU a dead end job too?......similar issues, and can Doh pull it out?...time will tell.
Beat ORU...then Creighton!!!
