How so? 2006-07 (North Texas - Freshman) 2007-08 (North Texas): Took a redshirt to heal from offseason surgery 2008-09 (North Texas - Sophomore) 2009-10 (North Texas - Junior) 2010-11 (SMU - Senior) He's played 4 years, right? Would be great, but not sure I see how it could be done.

I think that Mike Kunstadt has done more for high school basketball in the state of Texas then any other person. He is a great person, can evaluate, works hard, honest, and runs the Great American Shootout which brings 250 college coaches to Denton. Google his name and thank him. If you have a son looking for a scholarship - get him in front of Mike. He is the real deal!
Quit while you're ahead
Hoopmax: You can ask any coach in Texas about Mike Kunstadt. You need to quit while you are ahead partner. If you don't know this, you have no clue partner

Case Keenum at Houston got a 6th year in football. Too bad for SMU Football. They say the wonderful coach JJ at North Texas played him 48 minutes one year. Reliable source. Can he get that year back? He should. NCAA is strange as you know. Yes, Magnum, Rob, and JFrog would bring three of our starters back.

I thought if you transferred under the grad student rules you were limited to one year, but I may be completely wrong.

Yea, I've not only heard of him, we're the main sponsor of his tournaments, put money in his pocket, know his agenda. The good, the bad, the ugly...Nobody is saying he doesn't throw quality exposure-based events, but that's surface level stuff, chief. I'm literally not allowed to say more and stay employed. Love the GASOs, go Defenders Select etc etc

There are plenty of AAU Coaches who are a joke! It is a necessary evil that you play sometimes 5 games in one day. If you lose, well you play another game an hour later. There are so many players that are fundamentally horrible. Too much AAU and not enough skill development work. Thank you for supporting Mike. He has enabled numerous young men get scholarships. Then you have the players who can't play on the next level and they get their feelings hurt because nobody recruits them.

Mangrum sat out the whole 07-08 year because of, I believe, microfracture surgery. He came back injured and still recovering from his knee issues in 08-09, but he'd already used a redshirt year and wanted to play as soon as he could. Didn't have it in him physically to play more than 10 minutes per night at the time. He actually played 88 minutes, because he was only available for 11 games (starting halfway through December) and two of those were spot appearances to get him back in the flow of competitive basketball. Then he suffered another knee injury and had to be shut down about 6 weeks later. He saw action well past the redshirt limit (by his own decision) in 08-09. The standard redshirt year was already used, and the only other year where he could even think of appealing for injury reasons, he played well after the calendar cutoff AND also made appearances in over 33% of the games. There won't be a 6th year for him, unfortunately.
