He had offers from ou and Louisville. He came here because we had another Senegal player on campus and we were putting together an Africa trip.
The second sentence is my best guess

Re: J.J. Richardson to transfer from Pitt
he wasn't the POY and if he was so "highly recruited" why did he come here? let's be completely honest, the level of competition is absolutely inferior in the CUSA and certainly in our non-con...it's foolish to think that an accurate comparison of skill can be made when the experience is so vastly different. it's nice of you to prop him up and say that he COULD have been the CUSA POY, but basing your assertions on things that never happened doesn't lend to them being very credible when comparing players, it skews an already subjective opinion of a player to be highly subjective and mostly innacurate.[/quote] Look, and take offense if you wish, but your lack of understanding here is comical at best, and a waste of my time at worst. He came here b/c we had some local industry types in our corner, that handled the situation, going all the way back to his academy days in Africa. How do you think we ended up w/Faye etc. Just one of a million ways kids choose schools, or have them shoved down their throats. CUSA isn't vastly inferior. It's a high mid league that always deserves 2 bids, and 3 or more in great years. It recruits at a high level right now, can take non-qualifiers, has some marquee coaches, albeit mostly retreads, and one or two of the hottest young coaches(pastner, jones), both of whom passed on ACC jobs this offseason. As for your last paragraph, I'm out there. I've seen most of these kids in camp setting, many in combine style individual workouts etc. You're asserting that Dia is good for SMU but not so much nationally. That's a farce. He leaves as he came in, an elite national player.

Gallo Fall, director of Mavs international scouting at the time. Also heads up Seeds Academy. Where did we visit when we went to africa? Seeds Academy etc.

CUSA is upwardly mobile and is heading the right way...I look forward to the future of CUSA BBall.
Re: J.J. Richardson to transfer from PittRednBlue11 speaks in absolute terms, but clearly knows very little about college basketball and SMU basketball recruiting. The difference between SMU and North Carolina is not so much because of Dia and Nyakundi, but everyone else. Mid-majors can beat high major teams because pretty much any decent college basketball team has a nice starting five. It is the players on the bench that give a team depth to rest their starters. The high majors can keep at it throughout the game and can handle the grind for the entire season while most mids cannot. The rest has been nicely summed up by hoopmanx and RGV Pony.
Re: J.J. Richardson to transfer from PittIf the team can find another ride available somehow, I'll take this kid over Richardson.

Re: J.J. Richardson to transfer from PittKid from Word of God Academy would have a slim chance of being eligible
Re: J.J. Richardson to transfer from Pitt
what's funny, is IF the team could find a ride, I'd be all in for Kyan Anderson.
Re: J.J. Richardson to transfer from Pitt
You mean the Pitt that lost to Butler who is a mid-major program? Because they have better players don't necessary mean they can advance past the first round. We do need inside help immediately. WatchED on T.V. the inside player from Rice destroy us in El Paso ( nothing against you Papa but he had 23/14 and the Magley kid (6'9" from Tulsa get 9/7 and big buckets at crunch time in our loss at home against Tulsa. You wonder why the Knicks are done - no defensive presence in the post. Harp and Justin at least worked their %$%^ off and played role minutes that really helped in the post area.
Re: J.J. Richardson to transfer from PittI guess we'll find out first hand how good J.J. is. He's going to U of H, so we get J.J. x 2.
Other schools he considered were Tulsa & UNC-Charlotte. Looks like the Ponies were never in the mix. "We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."
Re: J.J. Richardson to transfer from PittPapa,
Thank you for the update! Good information even though I hate to see him in our league.
