Barbershop Gossip from DFW Metroplex Hoops/FB

Some interesting news today...seeing TCU get some interest from top National recruits ( including Number 1 National recruit Julius Randle) visiting this week sucks for us and shows how the move to the BE is paying off already, but some good HS ball coming up to watch this year.

Ball is Life

Barbershop Gossip (08-12-11)
12-Aug-2011 This may have been one of the more exciting weeks in August in recent memory. We would like to apologize for the typo in the Weekend Rewind. Summer Awards will be released NEXT Tuesday.

Two local schools had a great week with getting kids on campus. UTA had rising juniors Nathan Hawkins (Rowlett) and Leyton Hammon (Richland Hills) on campus. If Coach Cross can dip in a get a couple 2013's on the rosters, look for the Mavericks to make some noise when they join the WAC conference.

TCU was "On One" this week as they had Julius Randle (PCA), Marquan Botley (PCA), and Matt Jones (DeSoto) all on campus this week. To the common "fan" you're like who cares? To a TCU "stan" this is BIG news. If the nation's top player (Randle), another top 20 player (Jones), and one of the most slept one guards (Botley) can all step foot on campus and see what the Horned Frogs have to offer. There's no reason for a lot of the other top tier players not only in the metroplex, but the state to quit acting "Hollywood" and see what the newest member of the Big East has to offer.

ESPN recently released their rankings. I guess the biggest jump was Marcus Smart up to 12.
Click Below for each classes rankings:

2012
2013

Be on the lookout today for ESPN's 2014 rankings as they will be released today.

I'm a firm believer of giving people what they ask for. For the last two years everyone has wanted to see Prestonwood and Grace Prep play. The wait is over! These two private school powers will collide Saturday, January 21, 2012 at a site TBD. With the extra seasoning both schools are looking to add, expect this to be a dog fight.

Looks like a few kids have found new schools. Patrick Birt has decided to enroll at Grace Prep. This will give the Lions an another versatile wing to compliment big man Isaiah Austin.

Rarely does a coach lose a starter and still have a smile on his face. I introduce to you, Coach Anthony Morgan at Plano West. After finding out he was going to lose to Patrick Birt, Morgan simply walked into his office to find out that the nation's top player in the 2015 class would be at Plano West. Mickey Mitchell the 6'5 manchild has indeed decided to attend Plano West. One can only imagine of a front court with Mickey and Birt at Plano West or Mickey and Julius Randle and Zach Peters at Prestonwood.

Yesterday there was a certain 2013 that reached out to a crosstown private school. If his enrollment is finalized today, be sure to follow us on Twitter and you know we will have the exclusive. Before the ink dries on his application we will be sure to let metroplex know.

Via twitter yesterday we told you guys that we had an exclusive commitment. It has been confirmed that Mansfield Timberview's Brandon Pye gave Coach Jones and the UNT staff his verbal pledge to join the Mean Green next season. Pye is without question one of the best shooters in the area that is rarely given any love. Pye played this past summer with the Dallas Showtyme Elite squad.

The area's top Showcase event, The Thanksgiving Hoopfest will release their lineup of teams in next week's Weekend Rewind. Once again this will be the premier showcase event in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. From top to bottom, no other event gives you more bang for your buck!

Be sure to follow us on Twitter for the latest update and recruiting news.

They have no chance at Randle or Jones, none. They can have Botley. Good player but nowhere near special.

Only way they go to TCU is if the money is flowing.
