Just a quick look at Texas state, before the game begins. TSU is a fairly short team, their tallest player is 6'7" center Anthony Dill and their starting power forward is 6'5" Zach Allison. Dill and Allison are the Bobcats leading scorers at 15 and 13 points per game, and both pull down better than 8 rebounds per game. Physically, they look at bit like the inside players from UT-Tyler, a bit short for their position, but stocky and muscular, and they hit the backboards hard. Allison is also a dangerous 3-point shooter, hitting 50% of his shots from the arc.
As a team, the Bobcats launch more than 20 3's per game, and they have 4 players shooting over 40% from long range. Guards Brad Brickens and Josh Naylor will launch from outside any time they get open.
TSU is not a particularly good team, but their one strength is an area that has been a problem for the Mustangs in the past. I expect SMU to win by at least 10 points. The team needs to bounce back from the Tech debacle in a hurry, if this season is going to be set on the right path. XtC has to go now, need to be in my seat to catch warm ups.
