http://eye-on-college-basketball.blogs. ... 6/33730466You don't need reminders or jokes or pithy comments about how basketball doesn't mean jack in conference realignment. We all know it now, have known it too well for too long.
But the Big East's conference rejiggering today means Boise State, San Diego State, Houston, SMU and UCF will join the Big East Conference in 2013. The latter three will be the only ones hopping over for hoops and football. Boise State and SDSU will be finding homes in basketball in some other conference, either bloating another league or kicking over a smaller pile of dominoes on the way to the latest infrastructure shakedown.
It's incredibly stupid. Again, look at this and tell me it makes sense. Of course it doesn't. And naturally I'm annoyed as hell by it. The country's best basketball league has been bastardized, and it's had an active hand in doing so. Essentially, the Big East has just swapped out Jim Boeheim for Donnie Jones. Bob Huggins for Matt Doherty. Jamie Dixon for James Dickey! No slight on the men of Conference USA, but that's a serious, serious downgrade in coach and program.

Amen. Find the strength to settle it on the court.

Biggest doesn't mean best. Also, like CMF says, just recruit like a mofo and beat them on the court. I could care less what they think. Use this time to ramp up.

Can't wait to sell the BE- G'town, UConn, St. John's, etc. to potential recruits. Now we just need a coach who can WIN

I'm more fired up about the basketball piece of this BE thing than I am about football. Assuming this all goes ahead as planned (in this crazy environment 2013 is VERY far away), there is going to be some sweet hoops action at Moody in a couple of years!

Wouldn't be shocked if the basketball only schools broke away from the BE. That's been rumored for some time now. Hopefully they'll all stay together

I would not be surprised either. Especially with Syracuse, West Virginia expected to leave. I do hope it stays tight though. There are 5 teams in the top 11 right now. One of those are leaving. We should have some really good teams coming to Dallas.

Does the BE remain at 16 BB schools? How is the BB conference organized and how does scheduling look?

Don't remember the exact details, but there usually are a few that you play home and home, and the rest you only play once (some home, some away). At least now all teams do go to The Garden for the tourney.
