A quick look at womens stats for the folks who support the Lady Mustangs.
The Lady Mustangs are 6-1, their best start since 1997. They will be prohibitive favorites in their remaining non-conference games, UT-San Antonio, the winner of Denver vs. Tenn.-Martin (tournament at Denver) and San Diego State. If they win all 3, it will give them the best OOC winning percentage the team has ever had.
Right now the Lady Mustangs are 3rd in the WAC in total offense, 2nd in total defense, and 1st overall in scoring margin. The SMU women also lead the WAC in Assists, Turnover margin, Assist/Turnover ration, and Steals, and are second in blocked shots. Sarah Davis leads the WAC in rebounding, while junior guard Kendall Shead is first in the WAC in both assists, assist/turnover ratio, and free throw percentage (87.5%).
This season will probably be the most competive the WAC has seen. La. Tech is still good but will not dominate the way they have in the pass. 4-5 other teams are also post-season contenders. Tulsa returned everyone from last years NIT team, and remain undefeated after upsetting Georgia Tech this past weekend.
