Re: NOW is the TimeNo chance Doh gets fired this year.
The cost to eat a year of his contract and the buyout penalty is too much for SMU. Next year we will have a non name CUSA schedule and no matter how we play our attendance will be poor and not generate the revenue to fund a buyout. Let him stay through his contract and build our reputation in letting a coach play out his string. Pony 81
Re: NOW is the TimeNo chance he stays, even with a remaining schedule where they should be expected to win out. No way should they lose another game.
Re: NOW is the TimeCoxBizGrad, are you speculating, or have you actually heard from credible sources that there is no chance he stays?
Re: NOW is the TimeUnfortunately... I am not at liberty to get more specific.
Re: NOW is the Time
What is the cost of NOT doing this? We're talking dollars and sense.
Re: NOW is the TimeIndeed. Time will tell. But a decision will be made soon in the off season.
Re: NOW is the TimeIt doesn't have to be a firing, it can be a promotion to Assistant AD with a full option for him to find a coaching job if he wants to. Yeah, you may have a two payroll year, it all depends on who might be available and who might be interested in an opportunity in Dallas. If a splash hire isn't available (and remember Orsini is all about splash hires), then Doh stays for another year as coach. I suspect more than a few agents are fielding calls right now expressing interest so that coaches have deny-ability.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: NOW is the Time
Are you serious that SMU should not lose another game besides Southern Miss? SMU is last in the conference, why would you expect SMU to all of a sudden start beating teams that have already beaten SMU or have 3-4 more conference wins than SMU?
Re: NOW is the TimeTime to bring back Dement!
Re: NOW is the Time
No doubt, but that's pretty far off your stance that he's definitively gone. They're just going to make a decision next month sometime
Re: NOW is the TimeI heard Doc Sadler's name mentioned by someone close to the AD
